PIKEVILLE, KY. – Community involvement remains a top priority for the Diamond Girls, official dance team of the East Kentucky Miners. Members of the Diamond Girls dance team will serve as judges at the 6th Annual Winterfest Cheer and Dance Championships on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg. The Diamond Girls will also perform during the Winterfest Cheer and Dance Championships. The 6th Annual Winterfest Cheer and Dance Championships is scheduled to get underway at 9 a.m.

Squads set to compete in the East Kentucky cheer and dance competition include Pee Wee, Elementary, Jr. High, JV/Girls’ Varsity, Boys’ Varsity, Pee-Wee All-Star, Jr. Prep All-Star, Jr. All-Star and Sr. All-Star groups.

Cheer divisions for the competition will include School, All-Star and Best All-Around Cheerleader. Dance divisions will include School, All-Star and Best All-Around Dancer.

Simple Cheer, Gymnastics Cheer and Pom Routine are the traditional cheer categories for the Winterfest Cheer and Dance Championships. Dance categories will include Jazz, Hip Hop and Pom Routine.
