PIKEVILLE, KY. – Before he works out with the Golden State Warriors in
early-June, former East Kentucky Miner Josh Pace will work out for two
other NBA teams. The Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers have both shown
great interest in Pace, one of minor league basketball’s top players
following his debut season with the East Kentucky Miners. Pace is
scheduled to work out for the Heat May 14-16. The CBA All-Star is
scheduled to work out for the Pacers May 19.
“The entire East Kentucky Miners organization is glad to see the NBA
taking an interest in Josh Pace,” said East Kentucky Miners Coach Kevin
Keathley. “With the strong work ethic he has, Josh can realize his goal
of playing in the NBA. He was probably the best slasher in minor league
basketball this past season. We’re very proud of Josh and what’s he
been able to accomplish and we’ll help him achieve his ultimate goal
any way we possibly can.”
Pace has been working out in Detroit with Kirk Vickers of TRIAD Health & Fitness. In 2004, Vickers was voted one of the Top 100 Trainers in
America by Men’s Journal Magazine. He spent several years as the Head
Trainer for the Detroit Red Wings (National Hockey League) and Detroit
Driver (Arena Football League).
Pace led the CBA in scoring during the 2007-08 season, averaging 23
points per game. He recorded a league-high three triple-doubles for the
Miners. Pace helped the Miners to a 26-22 regular-season record and a
berth in the CBA Playoffs during the team’s inaugural season.
