Miner street team to visit South Williamson, Belfry

PIKEVILLE, KY. (October 31, 2007) – Fans in and around South Williamson and Belfry can take advantage of an opportunity to meet members of the East Kentucky Miners professional basketball organization and learn more about the team on Friday, Nov. 2 at the South Williamson Wal-Mart. The East Kentucky Miner street team – a group comprised of members of the organization including Diamond Girl dancers – will visit the South Williamson Wal-Mart from 5-7 p.m. Ticket information will be available during the street team stop. East Kentucky Miners co-owner Jay Fiedler will also be in the South Williamson area on the evening of Friday, Nov. 2. Following the stop at the South Williamson Wal-Mart, the Miner street team will migrate over to nearby Belfry High School for a regular-season high school football finale pitting host Belfry against Johnson Central. Belfry and Johnson Central rank as two of the state’s top high school football teams. Both programs appeared in last season’s State Semifinals. A former NFL quarterback, Fiedler will attend the Belfry-Johnson Central game.

In late-October, members of a street team representing the Miners visited Prestonsburg. More street team stops are in the planning stages for the future. Upcoming street team stops will be listed on the East Kentucky pro basketball team’s official website – www.ekminers.com.

East Kentucky will open its debut season on Friday, Nov. 16 in a road game versus the Pittsburgh Xplosion.
In a return game, East Kentucky will host Pittsburgh on Sunday, Nov. 18 in its first home game at the East Kentucky Expo Center.
